Brake Service and Repairs

SERVICE OVERVIEW

The one thing you never want to second guess.

Brakes wear out gradually, making it easy to overlook the early warning signs. A slight squeal can develop into a grinding noise, while changes in pedal feel may indicate a braking problem. Leaving worn brake pads unattended can also damage the discs, turning a relatively simple repair into a more expensive job.

We inspect brake pads, discs, drums, fluid, lines and handbrake operation. If your car pulls to one side, shudders when braking or the brake pedal feels different from usual, it’s best to have it checked as soon as possible.

We’ll explain what we’ve found, recommend any necessary repairs and provide a quote before starting work.

FAQ

Got Questions? We've Got Answers

Brakes are not the place to guess. Here is what we get asked most.
Squealing brakes can indicate worn brake pads, although there may be other causes. Grinding noises are more concerning and may indicate that metal components are rubbing together.
This can happen when brake discs have uneven wear or thickness variations. We'll inspect and measure the discs to determine whether they can be machined or need to be replaced.
Brake pads typically last between 30,000 and 70,000 kilometres, depending on the vehicle, driving conditions and type of pads fitted. Frequent stop-start driving can cause them to wear out faster.
Many manufacturers recommend changing brake fluid every two years, although intervals vary between vehicles. Over time, brake fluid can absorb moisture, reducing braking performance, particularly under heavy use.
